I love that you have been living and I enjoy reading what you have been up to! Right now my hobbies are reading, scrapbooking/collage journaling, creating stationary cards, and building tiny houses ( you can buy the kit). Gardening is on my mind but I'm not sure I'm in the mood to battle the bugs this season.
What ya reading these days? Last good book you read? Scrapbooking intrigues me! My wife and I have talked about needing to get better at documenting our lives in physical photos but I am so not good at it.
Right now I'm reading Chimamanda's new novel, Dream Count, and also listening to the memoir, You Can Make This Place Beautiful. I enjoy literary fiction and books that reflect on life. The last book I read that had me deep into the characters next move was Reel by Kennedy Ryan and Never Saw Me Coming by Tanya Smith.
Scrapbooking is fun. Right now I'm in the collecting phase. So if I have maps, tickets, or quotes I tuck them away for when I'm ready to really dive in. That's something you can try, especially during the summer.
Yes, looking forward to connecting about our current reads! I read Americanah recently and really enjoyed it. I just enjoy her writing style, it's so beautiful. I wrote a short recap on my newsletter.
I heard about Issac's Song from your pic. I just feel like that one will have me deep into my feelings! How is it?
Oh Tashay! What I wouldn't give to be able to make such a beautiful sour dough loaf! Love that you have conquered sour dough! I see King Arthurs flour has some interesting sour dough recipes! The start of your cable cardi is coming along beautifully. Love seeing what you share here!
Thank you, Sandy! Do you bake sourdough? Other breads? Got any recommendations for what I should try baking next? Speaking of King Arthur, I’d like to try some of their discard recipes and make use of all of the flower I regularly toss.
Hi again, I want to be able to make sourdough bread. But, I am a gluten free girl and have not gotten the hang of making a gluten free starter. I am hoping to find someone who is also GF near by, to get a bit of starter from. Wish me luck! :-) Me too! About making some of those discard recipes! :-)
Hello my dear. Everytime I see a Humble Hobbyist email pop up I immediately say "where do she find the time?". You are such an inspiration. The last 2 months have been an experience after experience after experience for you and in an exciting way too. Now you've given me something to think about....ANALOG HABITS. I have started pilates and I do love it. I appreciate doing it as part of my weekly routine. I tried to start scrapbooking over a year ago, but stopped shortly after gathering all my concert tickets stubs together. LOL And let's not talk about reading, I want to read, just cant get started. I bought "The Alchemist" back in October while at HU homecoming; yet to start reading it. So again I say, "WHERE DO YOU FIND THE TIME". Let me in on the secret, until then keep up the life fulfiling journey you and Datrianna are on and please continue to share. Love you.
Hahaha you'd be surprised how much time there is in a day! Routine helps with a lot of it and really trimming the fat on things that I don't enjoy spending my time doing.
Yes, this year has already been full of lots of great experiences and I've got 8 more months to go!
Datrianna loves pilates, I tried it once back in highschool and hated it but I told her I might be willing to try once more. We'll see, I can't make any promises.
Scrapbooking seems up your alley! I'd love to see them when you get around to it. Reading, my favorite past time! I read every night before bed, try it. Even if just for 10mins, you'll find that it helps you sleep better and before you know it you'll have finished the book. Don't hold yourself to a super high standard of needing to sit down and read uninterrupted for hours at a time, start small.
We only get one so Datrianna and I are trying to make the best of this long but short life we've been granted! We shall continue to share with you both digitally and in person ❤️. I love you too!
Some great reads on your shelf!! Braiding Sweetgrass is a fave, and of course Hanif is always great - you’ll have to let me know what you think. And when you start the new Eve Ewing book too!! I think that’s coming up on my list.
I’ve only heard amazing things about Braiding Sweetgrass. I’m prioritizing non-fic this year so I should finally get around to it. Have you gotten the author’s new book, “The Serviceberry”?
I’ll be starting Hanif’s “There’s Always This Year” tonight!
I love this!! I’ll be going to Amsterdam in mid May, would love some recs from y’all - and my analog habits haven’t changed too much - biking, gym, language learning (offline), and games (dominos, rummy) - thanks for continuing to inspire
Oooh yes let's chat Amsterdam, I'll text you! I've been flirting with getting a bike; it feels sacrilegious to live so close to the lake and not ride but sheesh the good ones are all so expensive. We'll see, I might break down and get one soon.

Thanks Bee! I'm glad you enjoy my updates.

Just read the blurb of Dream Count, it sounds good! I hope you enjoy it. I’m gonna guess you’ve also read Americanah — I loved that one by Chimamanda.
I haven’t read Reel but absolutely loved Before I Let Go by Kennedy! Sounds like we share some reading taste ☺️
